US President Donald Trump has criticized “fake polls” and called for investigations into alleged election fraud, as his approval ratings continue to sink.
Recent polls show Trump’s overall job approval score at 39%, down from 45% in February. A Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll of 2,464 U.S. adults found that 55% disapprove of how he’s handling his job, while a New York Times/Siena College poll of 913 voters nationwide shows an approval rating of 42%.
The president has also faced criticism for his methods on key issues like the economy and immigration. A recent Fox News survey of 1,104 registered voters found that border security was the only issue area where Trump’s approval was not underwater.
Trump’s approval ratings have crumbled despite maintaining strong support for his immigration crackdown. However, his economic policies are unpopular, with a recent Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll showing nearly half of American adults disapprove of his tariffs.
The disconnect between Trump’s goals and methods is growing, threatening to erode the pillars of his political brand. As he pushes through a sweeping agenda, courts have blocked several moves, raising legal and ethical concerns.
