Trump Inauguration: How Tech Billionaires Lost Billions Since Taking Office

The inauguration of Donald Trump in January marked a shift for several tech billionaires who cooied up to him by attending the event and donating to his inaugural fund. However, the administration’s policies have had a devastating impact on their fortunes.

Since taking office, four of the richest tech billionaires – Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jensen Huang – have collectively lost $194 billion in wealth. Their companies’ share prices have also declined sharply.

Elon Musk has seen the greatest decline, losing $114 billion since January 20. His work with the White House DOGE office led to widespread protests against Tesla, which has struggled with a nearly 25% drop in its stock price this year.

Jeff Bezos’s wealth, largely tied to Amazon, has declined by $36 billion due to concerns over Trump’s trade war, particularly the 145% tariff on China. Analysts predict Amazon could be negatively impacted by these tariffs.

Mark Zuckerberg has lost $22 billion since January 20, largely due to Meta’s ongoing anti-trust lawsuit brought by the government under Trump’s administration.

Jensen Huang, who donated Nvidia $1 million to the inaugural fund, has also seen his wealth drop by $21.6 billion due to the company’s struggles with tariffs and export restrictions.

Other tech leaders, including Tim Cook of Apple and Sundar Pichai of Google, have also seen their stock prices decline nearly 14% and 15%, respectively.
