Gene Hackman’s Autopsy Reveals Cause of Death for Wife Betsy Arakawa

Gene Hackman’s autopsy for his late wife, Betsy Arakawa, has revealed new details about her sudden death from hantavirus pulmonary syndrome. According to the report, obtained by The Associated Press, Arakawa had fluid accumulation in her chest and mild hardening of the blood vessels supplying her heart and body.

The investigation found no signs of COVID-19 or flu, and her carbon monoxide levels were within normal range. However, she did test positive for caffeine. In contrast, Hackman’s autopsy report showed a history of congestive heart failure and severe chronic hypertensive changes in his kidneys, with neurodegenerative features consistent with Alzheimer’s disease.

The medical examiner noted “autopsy showed severe atherosclerotic and hypertensive cardiovascular disease” in Hackman. The investigation also revealed remote myocardial infarctions and advanced stage Alzheimer’s disease in the brain. Hackman tested negative for hantavirus, but had trace amounts of acetone in his system when he died.

The findings are consistent with a prolonged period of fasting. Investigators found that Arakawa researched COVID-19 and flu-like symptoms multiple times before her death and had sent an email to her massage therapist revealing Hackman’s recent COVID-19 test results.
