Chris Hemsworth is set to star in the upcoming submarine action film “Subversion”, directed by Patrick Vollrath and written by Andrew Ferguson for Amazon MGM Studios. The movie follows a former naval commander who is blackmailed into piloting a submarine carrying illegal cargo across international waters.
Hemsworth’s role reunites him with Amazon MGM Studios, where he also stars in the upcoming film “Crime 101”. The project also marks a return to the studio for Ferguson, whose script “Blood Rush” is currently in development.
The film comes after Hemsworth’s notable performances in “Extraction II”, “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga”, and his upcoming role as Thor in “Avengers: Doomsday”. Other projects linked to Hemsworth include a potential “Transformers/G.I. Joe” crossover at Paramount and a live-action adaptation of “Prince Charming”.
Vollrath, who directed the 2020 film “7500”, is an Academy Award-nominated filmmaker with previous credits including the live-action short “Everything Will Be Okay”. The news was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
