Ravens Decline Linderbaum’s Fifth-Year Option

The Baltimore Ravens have decided to decline the fifth-year, $23.4 million option on center Tyler Linderbaum, making him eligible for free agency next March. The decision is reportedly not a reflection on Linderbaum’s performance on the field, where he has been one of the team’s most consistent players.

Linderbaum, a two-time Pro Bowler, was likely to become the highest-paid center in the league after picking up his option. However, the Ravens decided that exercising it would have tied him to a significant amount of guaranteed salary, which may be a concern if he were to suffer an injury.

Instead, the team will use the franchise tag on Linderbaum next season, which would cost around $25 million in 2026. This decision gives the Ravens time to negotiate with Linderbaum and try to reach an agreement before his contract expires. The team’s priority is now signing quarterback Lamar Jackson to a contract extension.

The move also sets the stage for a busy offseason for General Manager Eric DeCosta, who must navigate negotiations with several key players, including Linderbaum, Henry, Andrews, Likely, Kolar, Ricard, Hopkins, Faalele, Van Noy, Washington, and Oweh.
