Cris Carter Blames Shedeur Sanders for His Own NFL Draft Struggles

Hall of Fame wide receiver Cris Carter believes Shedeur Sanders is solely responsible for his disappointing NFL draft experience. During an episode of the “Fully Loaded” podcast, Carter stated that Sanders’ pre-draft preparation was flawed, particularly when it came to his image and interview process.

Carter pointed out that Sanders spent too much money on jewelry and failed to convince teams he was the face of their franchise. He also criticized Sanders’ father, Deion Sanders, for potentially influencing his draft decisions.

“Shedeur and his family overplayed their hand,” Carter said. “They thought they were in the same evaluation mode as Eli Manning, but it didn’t work out that way.”

Carter also emphasized the importance of working out at the combine and performing well during the interview process. Sanders’ lackluster performance in these areas contributed to his plummeting draft stock.

Now, Sanders must compete for playing time and a roster spot with other players. Carter’s blunt assessment suggests that Sanders may have underestimated the NFL and its teams.

“Let me tell you what he understands today,” Carter said. “He ain’t running s–t. OK? Let me tell you what, they taught him a great lesson. You don’t have this figured out. Your dad don’t have this figured out.”

Carter’s comments highlight the challenges Sanders faces as he begins his NFL career, and the importance of humility and hard work in achieving success in the league.
