A piece of a failed Soviet spacecraft from 1972 is expected to fall uncontrollably back to Earth, with no clear location predicted. The Kosmos 482 probe was designed for Venus but malfunctioned and crashed into space. Now, it will reenter the Earth’s atmosphere around May 10 and land anywhere between 52 degrees north and south latitude. The risk of impact is comparable to a meteorite, traveling at 150 mph. Satellite trackers are monitoring its descent, providing an opportunity to observe its uncontrolled return.
