Falcons Implicated in Draft Day Prank Call Scandal

The Atlanta Falcons have been fined $250,000 by the NFL after a draft day prank call made to quarterback Shedeur Sanders was linked to team defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich’s family. The incident occurred during the 2025 NFL Draft when Ulbrich’s son, Jax, obtained his father’s iPad and called Sanders with confidential information about his phone number.

The Falcons accepted the penalties, stating that they were proactive in addressing the situation internally and cooperated fully with the league. Jeff Ulbrich apologized for not protecting confidential data and promised to work harder to demonstrate better judgment. The NFL has also taken steps to address the issue, allowing everyone involved to move forward.

In a statement, the Falcons said, “We appreciate the NFL’s swift and thorough review of last week’s data exposure.” The team will continue to emphasize adherence to their security policies and practices, including community service initiatives with the Ulbrich family.
