Android’s Document Scanner Gets Smart Upgrade

Google has rolled out a practical update to its document scanner technology, making it quicker and more efficient. The new feature automatically enhances scanned documents immediately after capture, eliminating the need for manual adjustments. This enhancement affects popular Google apps such as Google Drive, Files by Google, and the native Pixel Camera app.

With this change, users can now scan documents with their Android phones and have the scans automatically enhanced in seconds. However, if the automatic adjustment isn’t to your liking, a straightforward toggle button has been added to disable it. This feature is available on devices running version 25.17.30 or newer, which may already be live on your phone.

The update aims to simplify the scanning process and make digitization of receipts, notes, or forms directly into Google Drive or Files feel smoother and more integrated. By automating the enhancement process, Google removes a point of friction from a common task, making it easier for users to quickly capture and edit documents on their Android devices.
