Diddy Rejected Sex Trafficking Plea Deal Ahead of Trial

Hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has rejected a plea deal for sex trafficking charges, paving the way for his trial next week. Combs, 55, faces up to life in prison if convicted on five counts including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. He has pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutors say Combs used his business empire to coerce women into participating in lengthy drug-fueled sexual performances over a two-decade period. However, Combs’ defense lawyers argue that the activity was consensual.

The trial is expected to last at least eight weeks, with opening statements set to begin on May 12. New York residents summoned for jury duty have been asked about their knowledge of the case in an effort to seat impartial jurors.

Combs, also known as Puff Daddy and P. Diddy, has faced a backlash after being hit with dozens of civil lawsuits over alleged sexual abuse. He denies all wrongdoing.
