Google’s Pixel phones may finally get the user interface overhaul they’ve been waiting for with the upcoming release of Android 16. The latest beta 4 preview reveals several major UI tweaks that could arrive before the stable release next month.
These changes, discovered by developer Mishaal Rahman, include blurred backgrounds through various screens, customizable Quick Settings and notification panels, bolder fonts and new icon shapes. Additional tweaks include a revised status bar with bolder icons, an adjusted lock screen clock layout, and revamped volume sliders.
While these updates may seem minor on their own, they represent significant changes for Pixel devices. In comparison to Samsung’s One UI 7 or OnePlus’ OxygenOS 15, the current Android UI experience appears dated. Google is preparing another substantial update later this year, which could be an opportunity to refresh the UI.
