Brazilian airlines are experiencing a surge in demand, with fans flying to Rio de Janeiro ahead of a free Lady Gaga concert on Copacabana Beach this weekend. The 39-year-old singer’s appearance is expected to draw over 1 million fans, boosting the local economy.
LATAM Airlines, Gol, and Azul have all reported increased flight frequencies and capacity in response to high demand. LATAM saw its flights from Brazilian cities to Rio de Janeiro reach a 90% load factor on Wednesday and Thursday, outperforming its domestic routes by 10.8%.
The free concerts are part of Rio’s efforts to promote music tourism, which is seeing a significant increase in visitors. Tourism Minister Celso Sabino attributes the growth to people traveling to see concerts and festivals, boosting the entire tourism industry.
With Lady Gaga’s concert expected to bring substantial revenue to the city, authorities are optimistic about the future of Brazilian aviation.
