Trump Chooses Banking Executive for Social Security Leadership

President-elect Donald Trump has selected Frank Bisignano, chairman of Fiserv, to lead the Social Security Administration. A Wall Street banking executive with a long history of political giving to Republicans, Bisignano will oversee one of the largest federal agencies in the US.

Bisignano’s career at major banks includes stints at Shearson Lehman Brothers, Morgan Stanley, Citigroup, and JPMorgan Chase & Company. He has been one of the highest-paid CEOs in the country, earning over $100 million in 2017 and receiving more than 2,000 times the average employee’s salary.

The president-elect announced Bisignano’s selection on social media, stating that he will “deliver on the Agency’s commitment to the American People.” The appointment has sparked speculation about how Bisignano’s business background will shape his approach to leading the Social Security Administration.
