CBS has canceled its drama series “The Equalizer” after five seasons. The show starred Queen Latifah as Robyn, a former CIA operative who helps those in need. Despite a 32% decline in viewership compared to last season, the show’s average total viewership still outperforms several other CBS shows.
Queen Latifah expressed her gratitude and shock on social media after the news. In an Instagram post, she said stepping into the role of Robyn was everything she hoped it would be, and having the opportunity to play it for five seasons feels surreal. She thanked the cast, crew, and fans, who have been “ride-or-die” loyal.
However, not everyone is pleased with the cancellation. Fans took to social media, criticizing CBS for canceling the show prematurely. The Equalizer’s cancellation comes after several other shows were also canceled or put on hold, including an Equalizer spinoff starring Titus Welliver and a potential CIA-based FBI spinoff.
On the other hand, CBS has given greenlights to new shows like “Fire Country”, “Sheriff Country”, and “Boston Blue”. The network is holding off on its new procedural series “Einstein” until the 2026-2027 season.
