What Are Your Happiness Types?

What makes you happy can be hard to define. Researchers have different ideas about well-being and each survey has its own concept of happiness. To capture this complexity, a quiz was created with the help of two experts: David Almeida from Pennsylvania State University and Susan Charles from the University of California, Irvine.

The quiz is designed to help you assess your own happiness and figure out which kind of well-being you value most. It explores two types of happiness:

Hedonic well-being focuses on short-term pleasure, such as feeling happy after a crush becomes mutual or enjoying delicious food. Eudaemonic well-being is about deeper fulfillment, like feeling connected with loved ones or working towards a meaningful goal.

Most researchers believe that happiness comes from balancing both kinds of well-being. There’s no strict rule, but aiming for around 75% balance between the two is often recommended. Take our quiz to discover your own happiness types and understand what brings you joy in life.
