Browns Stun with Late-Round Pick on QB Shedeur Sanders

The Cleveland Browns have selected Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders in the 5th round of the 2025 NFL Draft. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the team began calling teams to potentially move up for Sanders around pick 135 in the 4th round.

NFL scouts had Sanders graded as a Day 2 prospect, indicating that he was expected to be selected much earlier. However, the Browns’ general manager, Andrew Berry, believes that Sanders was mispriced relative to the draft. The team thinks that Sanders can outproduce his expected value, making the acquisition cost relatively low.

Sanders even FaceTimed Berry to express gratitude for being selected by the Browns, indicating a smooth transition into the organization. This move suggests that Cleveland’s front office was confident in their ability to find value in the late rounds of the draft.
