Israel Strikes Yemeni Ports in Response to Houthi Missile Attacks

Israel has launched strikes on the Yemeni ports of Hodeidah and as-Salif, targeting “terrorist infrastructure” used by the Houthi rebel group. The attacks come after the Houthis fired missiles towards Israel, days after agreeing a truce with the US.

The Israeli military said the two ports had been used to transfer weapons, but no immediate reports of casualties or damage were reported. This is the first strike since US President Donald Trump agreed to a ceasefire deal with the Houthis earlier this month.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised more strikes if the group continues to launch attacks on Israel. He described the Houthis as “just a tool” and alleged Iran was behind them, vowing to hunt down and eliminate Houthi leader Abdel-Malik al-Houthi.

The Israeli Defence Minister said he would pursue “greater force”, including targeting the rebel group’s leadership and infrastructure. This comes after recent attacks by the Houthis on Israel, which have fired over 30 projectiles towards the country since breaking a ceasefire agreement with Hamas in March.
