Verizon Wins FCC Nod for Frontier Deal Amid Controversy

Verizon Communications has received approval from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for its $9.6 billion acquisition of Frontier Communications Parent Inc. The deal comes with conditions, including the company agreeing to scale back diversity initiatives that had drawn scrutiny from President Donald Trump’s administration. Despite this, FCC Chairman Brendan Carr hailed the deal as a significant investment in modern infrastructure, which will bring high-speed networks to rural America and accelerate the transition away from outdated copper lines.
