Eli Lilly Invests $3B in Wisconsin Factory Expansion

Pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly is investing $3 billion to expand its factory in Kenosha County, Wisconsin, to meet growing demand for its injectable products, including diabetes and obesity medications Mounjaro and Zepbound. The expansion is expected to start construction next year, bolstering the company’s efforts to boost production of blockbuster drugs.

The investment follows earlier announcements by Eli Lilly of multibillion-dollar manufacturing expansions near its Indianapolis headquarters. With this latest move, the company plans to spend over $23 billion on global manufacturing sites since 2020. Mounjaro and Zepbound generated a combined $4.4 billion in sales for Lilly during the third quarter of this year alone, highlighting the growing need for increased production capacity.
