Josh Freese Leaves Foo Fighters After Two-Year Tenure

Josh Freese, the drummer who temporarily filled in for Taylor Hawkins with the Foo Fighters, has been let go from the band after about two years of touring and performing. The news comes as a surprise to fans, given Freese’s impressive drumming skills showcased during his time with the group.

Freese last performed with the Foo Fighters at their August 18 concert at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, where he delivered an unforgettable drum solo during their rendition of the 1997 classic “Monkey Wrench.” This was also his final public appearance with the band before being announced as leaving.

Although Freese’s departure was not explicitly stated by the band, a rep declined to comment further. In a statement, Freese expressed his support for the Foo Fighters’ decision, saying he enjoyed his time with the group and wishes them well in their future endeavors. This marks an unusual departure for Freese, who has spent 40 years drumming professionally without being let go from any band before.
