As someone who’s spent countless hours playing entry-level PC games, I’m always excited to see what budget-friendly graphics cards can do. The new Nvidia RTX 5060 is no exception, and I was thrilled to get my hands on it ahead of its official launch. While I won’t be sharing any benchmark figures just yet, I want to give you a sneak peek into my first few hours with the card.
I spent time playing Bethesda’s DOOM: The Dark Ages, which boasts ray tracing baked into its idTech engine. Expecting to see some performance hits due to the lower-end GPU, I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth it played at 500fps on launch using an RTX 5080. However, the RTX 5060 felt similar in feel, even with Ultra Nightmare settings enabled.
I tried Multi-Frame Generation and noticed a slight blurriness on one enemy, which might be due to some limitations of this tool. Still, for most players, this won’t be a noticeable issue. The performance jump from an older card like the RTX 2060 or RTX 3060 is indeed wild.
While I’ll need to run more tests to confirm the RTX 5060’s worth, my initial impression is that it’s a solid choice for those looking to upgrade their gaming experience without breaking the bank. Keep an eye out for our full review when we dive deeper into benchmarks and other key tests.
