CarPlay Ultra, the next-generation of Apple’s popular CarPlay system, began rolling out in the US and Canada today, starting with new Aston Martin vehicle orders. The update brings a deeply integrated experience that combines the best of iPhone with the car, providing a safer and smarter way to use an iPhone in a vehicle.
The new system provides information for all driver screens, including real-time content and gauges in the instrument cluster, while reflecting the automaker’s look and feel. Drivers can choose to show information from their iPhone, such as maps and media, along with car-specific data like advanced driver assistance systems and tire pressure.
CarPlay Ultra also introduces widgets powered by iPhone that fit perfectly into the car’s screen or gauge cluster, providing information at a glance. The system allows automakers to express their unique design philosophy through custom themes, which are crafted in collaboration between Apple and the automaker’s design team.
Aston Martin is the first automaker to roll out CarPlay Ultra, with availability starting in new vehicle orders in the US and Canada today. Existing Aston Martin vehicles featuring the brand’s next-generation infotainment system will receive a software update in the coming weeks. The system works with iPhone 12 or later running iOS 18.5 or later.
Other automakers, including Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis, are also working to bring CarPlay Ultra to drivers worldwide.
