Aubrey O’Day, the former protégée of Sean “Diddy” Combs, has confirmed that she will not be testifying as a witness at his ongoing sex-trafficking trial. The 41-year-old singer rose to fame after appearing on Diddy’s MTV show “Making the Band” and becoming a member of the girls’ group Danity Kane.
In an appearance on the podcast “Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes Present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial,” O’Day stated that she had not been contacted by government officials to testify in the trial. She claimed that she was asked not to provide further details about a meeting with Homeland Security.
O’Day’s decision comes after reports of her potential testimony sparked speculation on social media. The singer initially fueled rumors that she would be testifying, posting on Instagram and appearing on a video taken in Manhattan.
However, O’Day clarified that she had been contacted by government officials but declined to provide further details about the meeting. She claimed that she wanted to make it clear to her fans that she was not testifying.
The trial against Diddy began May 12 at the Daniel Patrick Moynihan U.S. Courthouse in Lower Manhattan. Authorities charged him with multiple counts of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transporting for prostitution. The Bad Boy Records founder has denied the allegations made against him and pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura testified for four days against him, detailing alleged abuse she suffered during their relationship. Her husband, Alex Fine, was present in court throughout her testimony. O’Day’s former Danity Kane bandmate Dawn Richard also testified that she witnessed Diddy assaulting Cassie in 2009.
O’Day has a contentious history with Diddy, having previously spoken out about his alleged abusive behavior on multiple occasions. She claims that Diddy “plays one of the dirtiest games there is around” and was let go from Danity Kane due to her refusal to engage in certain activities.
