Jesy Nelson, the singer and former member of Little Mix, has given a surprising nod to one of her bandmates by sharing her twin daughters’ unique names. The 33-year-old, who was recently hospitalized with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), a rare condition that can put one or both babies at risk, has confirmed that both girls are safe and well.
Jesy’s twins, Ocean Jade Nelson-Foster and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster, were born prematurely at 31 weeks plus 5 days. The names, which Jesy revealed on social media alongside two adorable pictures of the couple cradling their newborns, hold special meaning for the singer.
The name Ocean is derived from the Greek word keanós, symbolizing power and mystery, but also representing new beginnings and hope. Her middle name Jade is associated with one of her former Little Mix bandmates, potentially serving as an olive branch to the group’s past. Meanwhile, her daughter Story Monroe draws a connection with creativity, imagination, and adventure.
After being diagnosed with TTTS in March, Jesy had to undergo an emergency procedure, but fortunately, both babies are safe and well. Her partner Zion Foster revealed that they made the hospital feel like home by turning a couch into a bed, making it easier for them to care for their newborns.
Experts note that TTTS is a rare condition affecting 10-15% of identical twins sharing a placenta (monochorionic twins). The Twins Trust charity offers resources and support for families facing similar situations.
Jesy’s decision to share her twin daughters’ names serves as a heartwarming tribute to her musical past and a testament to the love she shares with her partner Zion Foster.
