A cryptocurrency company boss’s daughter and her husband narrowly escaped an abduction attempt in Paris’s 11th district on Tuesday. The masked gang, consisting of three men, was thwarted when the couple fought back and passers-by rushed to their aid.
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers leapt from a white van and tried to kidnap the woman and her child. However, she managed to grab a replica air gun from one of the attackers and throw it into the street. The group’s leader was beaten repeatedly over the head by the husband, who attempted to protect his family.
Despite initial hesitation, locals eventually intervened, forcing the attackers to flee in their van. A fourth gang member drove them away after they were joined by another accomplice. The family received minor injuries and were treated at a hospital.
This incident is part of a series of abductions targeting French cryptocurrency figures or their relatives. Last month, the father of a cryptocurrency millionaire was rescued after his kidnappers cut off one of his fingers. Authorities have launched an investigation into the botched kidnapping attempt.
