Stars Find A Way, Beat Jets in Thrilling OT Win

The Dallas Stars continued their remarkable playoff run, defeating the Winnipeg Jets in a thrilling overtime game to advance to the Western Conference Final for the third consecutive season.

Led by outstanding goaltending from Jake Oettinger and big performances from defensemen Thomas Harley and Sam Steel, the Stars out-defended the Jets and took a 2-1 win in Game 6 at American Airlines Center. The victory marked a major milestone in the playoffs, as Dallas became one of the first teams to come back against a shutout opponent.

Winnipeg center Mark Scheifele scored an emotional goal five minutes into the second period to give the Jets the 1-0 lead, but Steel quickly tied the game with a rebound goal midway through the period. The Jets’ loss was compounded by the news that Scheifele’s father had passed away earlier in the day, making his emotional performance all the more poignant.

The third period was scoreless, with both teams playing very well behind their goalies. Oettinger made several key saves to help seal the win for Dallas. In overtime, Steel’s rebound goal was the decisive factor, as he scored just 15 seconds into the extra period off a pass from Tyler Seguin.

Stars coach Pete DeBoer praised his team’s ability to persevere in the face of adversity and stay focused under pressure. “You never take it for granted, and you realize how hard it is,” DeBoer said. “We hope we can take advantage of this opportunity and make sure we’re healthy going into the next series.”

The Stars’ remarkable playoff run continues, as they look to build on their success in the Western Conference Final.
