China has urged the United States to immediately correct its “wrongdoings” over discriminatory measures against Chinese advanced computer chips. The US Commerce Department’s guidance last week warned businesses of potential export control violations by using Chinese-made chips, including Huawei’s Ascend AI technology. China’s commerce ministry described this move as “unfounded accusations” that have harmed bilateral talks in Geneva, where a 90-day tariff truce was reached earlier this month. The US action threatens to undermine the consensus and could ultimately harm American industrial competitiveness, according to Beijing.
