Ariana Grande Speaks Out Against Body Shaming on Wicked Red Carpet

Ariana Grande addressed criticism about her appearance in a recent joint interview with co-star Cynthia Erivo. The “Thank U Next” singer held back tears as she discussed the comments she’s heard about her weight and body.

Grande, 29, shared that she’s been subjected to body shaming since she was 16 years old. She said that hearing every version of negative criticism has become a familiar experience, but it’s no longer something she chooses to engage with. “I have learned to ignore the criticism with the help of my loved ones,” Grande stated.

The singer emphasized the importance of self-love and protection from negativity. “It’s hard to protect yourself from that noise,” she said. “But I do know what the pressure of that noise feels like.” Grande also highlighted the danger of critiquing others, stating it’s a problem for all parties involved.

Grande credited her support system with helping her develop a sense of self-worth and trust her own beauty. She concluded by saying, “You keep yourself safe because no one has the right to say shit.”

The comments come as Grande stars in the new film Wicked, which opened to critical acclaim and earned $112.5 million at the domestic box office.
