Whooping Cough Outbreak Hits McHenry High Schools

A whooping cough outbreak has been reported at the McHenry High School Upper Campus in Illinois, with 59 cases confirmed so far this year. The outbreak is the current highest number of cases in a single county since 2018. According to health officials, 11 cases were reported in November and 20 in October. As of now, eight students have contracted the illness. McHenry County Health Department Director Susan Karras stated that the first case was reported on October 12, and all affected students are part of this outbreak. The county’s public health data suggests a record-breaking year for whooping cough cases might be possible.
