Google Unveils AI-Powered Video Editing Suite Flow at IO

Google has entered the video editing space with its new AI-powered suite called “Flow.” Designed to help creatives bring cinematic visions to life, Flow combines models from Veo 3, Gemini, and Imagen 4 to generate moving images from text prompts. Unlike existing AI video generation tools, Flow allows users to create clips using previously generated videos and their own assets.

The updated models enhance the experience with features like audio baking, improved lip syncing, and enhanced image resolution capabilities. The “Camera Controls” function offers direct manipulation of camera movement and angles, while the “Scenebuilder” option helps edit or extend shots seamlessly. An “Asset Management” feature keeps creative bits organized, and “Flow TV” provides a showcase of videos created with Veo.

Google collaborated with filmmakers to understand how Flow can fit into their workflows. The platform is available in the US for subscribers to Google AI Pro or Google AI Ultra plans, offering varying levels of access and usage limits. With early access to native audio generation and environmental sounds, Flow aims to empower a new wave of storytellers and unlock fresh creative possibilities.
