US Women’s National Team Roster Announced for Upcoming Friendlies

US women’s national team head coach Emma Hayes has named a 24-player squad to play two friendlies during the next international window. The roster includes several notable call-ups, such as midfielder Lo’eau LaBonta from Kansas City Current and defender Kerry Abello from Orlando Pride.

LaBonta, who is making her first appearance for the team, was praised by Hayes for her skills, while Abello’s consistency on the field earned her a spot in the squad. Goalkeeper Claudia Dickey, also receiving her first call-up, was deemed one of the best performers in the NWSL this season.

However, some notable players will not be joining the team. Forward Mia Fishel and midfielders Korbin Albert and Jaedyn Shaw will instead represent the US U-23 national team. Mallory Swanson, who is pregnant with her first child, and Trinity Rodman, dealing with a back injury, will also miss the upcoming friendlies.

The squad includes familiar names, such as Naomi Girma, who recently returned to the team after playing for Chelsea FC. Arsenal defender Emily Fox is expected to join the team soon after playing in the UEFA Women’s Champions League final.

The US women’s national team will begin their international window with a friendly against China on May 31 at Allianz Field in St Paul, Minnesota, followed by a match against Jamaica on June 3 at Energizer Park in St Louis.
