Actor George Wendt, best known for his role as Norm Peterson in the popular sitcom “Cheers,” has died at 76. In one of his last interviews, Wendt revealed how a one-word audition sparked into him landing his iconic role.

Wendt had initially been cast for a small role in the show’s pilot episode, but it was later expanded after he impressed the team with his performance. The character of Norm Peterson became a fan favorite, known for his witty punchlines and frequent visits to the bar. Wendt went on to reprise the role over 11 seasons, cementing his status as a beloved television star.
