NFL Players Set Sights on 2028 Summer Olympics Flag Football

The National Football League (NFL) has passed a bylaw allowing league players to participate in the 2028 Summer Olympics in flag football. Each team is limited to one player per country, with a maximum of 10-player teams. Two Detroit Lions, Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jahmyr Gibbs, have already expressed interest in representing their respective countries.

St. Brown, born in California but with German heritage through his mother, has posted on social media that he wants to play for the German national team, using the phrase “Die Mannschaft” or “The Team.” Gibbs, a 23-year-old running back, has tagged St. Brown and joked about playing together on the same team.

With teams being small and requiring players who can play both offense and defense, these NFL players’ skills will be put to the test in flag football. Although it’s early days, the Olympics’ inclusion of this new event presents an exciting opportunity for NFL talent to shine on a global stage.
