Tony Reali Speaks Out After ‘Around the Horn’ Cancellation

ESPN’s “Around the Horn” is set to end its 23-year run on May 23, but host Tony Reali’s contract with the network won’t expire until August. In a recent interview with Jimmy Traina, Reali discussed his future and the reasons behind the show’s cancellation.

Reali stated that he only received feedback from ESPN twice in 23 years, both times being told to “keep doing what you’re doing.” He expressed his surprise at not having a clear explanation for the show’s demise. Despite attempts to change ESPN’s mind, Reali acknowledged that the network may have had other reasons for canceling the show.

Reali remains optimistic about his future with ESPN and has only had two conversations with the network in the past four months. He expressed appreciation for the opportunities he’s had during his 23-year tenure but doesn’t feel hurt by the cancellation.

Other sports news includes a potential shift in the MLB broadcast package, with NBC reportedly making an offer to pick up Sunday Night Baseball and wild-card round coverage. The Timberwolves-Thunder Western Conference finals game on ESPN drew a smaller audience than last season’s first game.

Additionally, Gary Cohen of SNY shared his frustrations about the current state of New York baseball fans. A video of Charles Barkley enjoying street meat was also highlighted.
