Google’s Android 16 Desktop Mode Arrives Thanks to Samsung DeX

Google has confirmed that its Android 16 desktop mode is now available in part thanks to a collaboration with Samsung. The company was working on this feature at the developer talks of Google I/O, and it will enable more powerful productivity workflows. In an effort to improve app functionality, Google has been working with Samsung to enhance Android’s desktop windowing capabilities.

The improved desktop mode is crucial for seamless adaptation to different screen sizes, especially as Android devices come in various shapes and features. Although the new feature hasn’t appeared live by default in the current beta release, leaked builds of Android 16 previously revealed its progress. Additionally, Samsung’s One UI 8 update appears to be redesigned to incorporate the improvements made by Google and Samsung.
