Tottenham Hotspur fans filled the streets of north London in celebration, marking the team’s first Europa League triumph in nearly two decades. The atmosphere was euphoric as supporters gathered to toast their team’s long-awaited victory.
For many fans, including Robbie Fowler, 68, who witnessed the team lift its first Europa League cup in 1972 at just 15 years old, the moment is a highlight of his life. “This saves our season – it’s that simple,” he said. “Everything else doesn’t matter.”
Others, like Luke and Jessica, had to wait longer for this moment. They have been fans for their entire lives, with Jessica becoming a Spurs fan just seven years ago. “I honestly feel as if I’ve waited my whole life for this,” Luke exclaimed.
Not all fans are young, however. Elijah Brown, just seven months old, has already seen nearly the same amount of trophies as his father, Jaz, who has been waiting 17 years for this moment. Jaz worries that success may go to Elijah’s head, but believes he is a good-luck charm.
“For him, it’s destiny,” said Jaz. “We bought him his first kit, and every time I put him in that kit, we win another game.”
