Rock Legend Billy Joel Cuts Short Tour Amid Diagnosis with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus
Billy Joel has cancelled his highly anticipated Utah concert due to a diagnosis of normal pressure hydrocephalus, a condition that affects the brain and spinal cord. The 76-year-old rock legend had been experiencing hearing, vision, and balance problems after recent concerts.
Joel’s doctor advised him to undergo physical therapy and refrain from performing during his recovery period. Billy Joel expressed gratitude for the support of fans during this time, saying he is committed to prioritizing his health.
Ticket holders will receive automatic refunds through their original payment method. The concert was initially scheduled for Friday but had been postponed to May 22, 2026, after Joel underwent surgery earlier this year.
This marks Joel’s second postponement of a Utah concert, with the first one taking place in 2017. His next show at Rice-Eccles Stadium will now be cancelled due to medical reasons, leaving fans disappointed but relieved that their health comes first.
