Ohio State Snubbed from Top 25 College Football Teams This Century

Ohio State’s 2024 team was left off The Athletic’s list of the top 25 best college football teams of this century, despite its impressive regular season and postseason wins. Coach Ryan Day’s latest team was not ranked due to two losses, including a matchup against Michigan, which entered the game with a 6-5 record.

In contrast, Ohio State’s 2019 squad was ranked as the 14th-best team of the past century, going 13-1 and losing only once in the College Football Playoff semifinals. The 2002 team, which won a national title under coach Jim Tressel, was also highly regarded at No. 19.

Other notable programs, such as Michigan and Clemson, made the list with their top-ranked teams. Michigan’s undefeated 2023 squad checked in at No. 11, while Clemson’s team that defeated Ohio State in the 2019 semifinals ranked as one of the top teams of the century.

Former Ohio State player Damon Arnette has also experienced a resurgence in his football career, joining the Houston Roughnecks in the UFL and speaking about his “complete turnaround” since returning to the field.
