Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Review: A Slimmed-Down Flagship Alternative

Samsung has revived the Edge name for its latest smartphone, the Galaxy S25 Edge, which boasts an even slimmer profile than its predecessor, the S25+. While some might see it as a rehashing of the same design, this phone is actually part of Samsung’s effort to make the middle child of its flagship lineup more appealing.

The S25 Edge is beautifully designed, with a 5.8mm-thin titanium frame, an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, and a vibrant 6.7-inch OLED display. However, it comes at a cost – literally. The phone has the smallest battery in the S25 family, which translates to shorter battery life.

Performance-wise, the Edge is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip with 12GB of RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of storage. It delivers strong performance, even when pushed, but its compact design means it sacrifices some capacity for a vapor chamber.

The camera setup on the S25 Edge is similar to that of the S25+, but with an upgraded 200MP main sensor from the Ultra, which produces excellent image quality. The phone can capture rich colors and crisp details, although Samsung’s signature oversaturated hues may be noticeable.

Battery life is a major trade-off, with the S25 Edge lasting only 25 hours and 59 minutes on our local video rundown test – significantly shorter than its competitors. However, it still supports wireless charging at 15 watts and has an average wired speed of 25 watts.

Ultimately, the S25 Edge is a divisive phone that may not justify its reduced battery life for some users. Nevertheless, as an alternative to the standard S25+, it offers a stylish identity that can stand on its own. With a starting price of $1,100, it’s a premium option that may appeal to those who value design and performance over longevity.

In our comparison with the Motorola Razr Ultra, the S25 Edge emerged victorious in nearly every shot, showcasing brighter, sharper, and better-exposed images. If you’re looking for a compact phone without sacrificing image quality, the S25 Edge is a stronger pick.
