A doctor’s 10 children, including nine killed, were among the 79 people who lost their lives to Israeli strikes in Gaza over the past 24 hours. The Health Ministry reported that two of the dead children remained trapped under rubble.
The killings came after Israel struck at least 100 targets throughout Gaza, with the military claiming it was targeting suspects operating near its forces. However, witnesses described the area as a “dangerous war zone.”
Gaza’s Health Ministry confirmed that the new deaths brought the war’s toll to 53,901 since October 2023. The ministry reported that 3,747 people have been killed in Gaza since March 18.
Israel has imposed a blockade on Gaza and its over 2 million residents, leading to widespread hunger and desperation. Despite warnings of famine, Israel allowed aid to return this week, but the UN and partners rejected a new aid delivery system proposed by the Israeli government.
Hospitals in Gaza are again facing attacks and pressure from Israel. Eleven security personnel have been trapped at the European Hospital since Tuesday due to heavy gunfire and airstrikes.
The conflict continues with Hamas demanding the release of 58 remaining Israeli hostages in exchange for their safe return. Israel has vowed to maintain control over Gaza and facilitate the voluntary emigration of its Palestinian population.
