The Samsung Galaxy S25 series was unveiled in February, featuring a standard Galaxy S25, an enlarged Galaxy S25 Ultra, and an intermediate Galaxy S25 Plus. The introduction of the Galaxy S25 Edge at the recent Galaxy Unpacked event raised questions about its place in Samsung’s smartphone lineup.
Sales figures suggest that the Galaxy S25 Edge could signal the beginning of the end for the Galaxy S25 Plus. In the first month of global sales, the Galaxy S25 Ultra sold 2.55 million units, while the Galaxy S25 sold 1.17 million units and the Galaxy S25 Plus sold just 840,000 units.
The Galaxy S25 Edge and Galaxy S25 Plus have little reason to coexist, given their similar prices and lack of distinct features. The phone starts at $1,099 for a model with 256GB of storage, encroaching on the price gap between the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy S25 Plus.
On the other hand, the Galaxy S25 Edge boasts excellent ergonomics, an excellent display, and lacks compromises in performance compared to its predecessor. It seems that power users might opt for the Galaxy S25 Ultra due to its battery capacity and camera system.
However, for those who value a large screen and light weight, the Galaxy S25 Edge may be a more appealing option.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is set to release globally on May 30.
