US to Ease Syria Sanctions After Trump Pledge

The US Treasury has issued a general license to lift sanctions on Syria, amid a pledge by former President Donald Trump to remove foreign terrorists from the country.

Senator Marco Rubio has also waived sanctions under the Caesar Act for 180 days. The move comes after Trump’s request to Syria to expel foreign terrorists and take other actions.

The easing of sanctions is seen as a “positive step” in efforts to improve relations with Syria.
