Israeli forces launched a wave of attacks on Gaza on Saturday, killing at least 30 Palestinians in one day of bombardment. The Israeli military also targeted a school-turned-shelter in Khan Younis, killing two Red Cross workers and injuring thousands more, according to human rights monitor Euro-Med.
The deadliest attack occurred when an Israeli air strike in Khan Younis killed the two Red Cross workers. The Israeli army chief stated that the attacks are part of “fulfilling its goals” but will not be “an endless war”.
Additionally, a dual US-German citizen was arrested for attempting to firebomb the US Embassy in Tel Aviv. Meanwhile, Malta’s government announced plans to recognize a Palestinian state.
Hezbollah leader Naim Kassem urged Israel to stop its aggression and withdraw from occupied territory in southern Lebanon. A ceasefire agreement signed last year had called for both sides to withdraw forces, but Israeli officials have maintained they will remain indefinitely.
Other attacks on Gaza City and Khan Younis resulted in at least four Palestinian deaths and numerous injuries. An Israeli reservist was jailed for refusing to return to duty in the war on Gaza, highlighting tensions within the country.
The latest developments come as Israel continues its air strikes on southern Lebanon and Beirut’s suburbs, sparking international condemnation.
