Hawks Edge Lakers in Overtime Thriller, Extend Winning Streak

The Atlanta Hawks have won their sixth straight game, defeating the Los Angeles Lakers 134-132 in overtime on Friday. Trae Young scored 31 points to lead the team, while LeBron James and Anthony Davis combined for 77 points but fell short.

Young hit a three-pointer with 7.4 seconds left in overtime to seal the win for the Hawks. The Lakers’ James had a chance to win it, but his long three-pointer clanked off the rim.

The Hawks’ victory puts Atlanta on a roll, matching their longest win streak since January 2022. Young’s performance offset the huge night by the Lakers’ Big Two, who put up a competitive effort despite losing their previous two games by a combined 70 points.

Atlanta’s reserves dominated the game, outscoring Los Angeles’ bench 65-17. The Hawks will host the Denver Nuggets on Sunday night, while the Lakers return home to face the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday.
