Johns Creek Tops US News & World Report’s Best Places to Live Rankings

A Georgia suburb has taken the top spot in U.S. News & World Report’s 2025-2026 Best Places to Live rankings, earning Johns Creek a reputation as one of the nation’s most desirable places to call home.

The city, located just north of Atlanta, boasts a high quality of life, a thriving job market, and the nation’s lowest crime rate, according to the report. Locals praise its blend of upscale amenities, top-tier schools, and a tight-knit community that feels like a small-town “bubble.”

Diversity and welcoming nature are also key factors in Johns Creek’s appeal, with residents from all walks of life coming together to create a strong sense of community. The city’s unique blend of Southern charm, cultural vibrancy, and civic pride has earned it the No. 1 spot on this year’s list of the 250 best places to live in the United States.

Johns Creek edged out other top contenders, including Carmel, Indiana, and Pearland, Texas, by performing well in key metrics such as quality of life, job market, desirability, and affordability. The city’s strong sense of community and welcoming presence make it an attractive option for those looking to relocate or start a new life.

According to real estate agent Skylar Topper, what sets Johns Creek apart is its ability to cater to diverse interests and needs. “We have upscale shopping, restaurants, and easy access to many highways,” she said. “It’s very idyllic.”

The city’s diversity has also contributed to its strong sense of community, with residents coming together to make their city even better. As past president of Johns Creek Beautification Lynn Pennington noted, “People are very friendly here… It may be a Southern thing, but people are very welcoming, and that has resulted in a culturally diverse population.”
