A German-based tech company, Kontron, has been found to have exported over €3.5 million in sensitive telecommunications equipment to its Russian arm despite EU sanctions imposed on Vladimir Putin’s regime.
In a recent investigation, it was discovered that Kontron used its Slovenian subsidiary to make the exports, which is prohibited under EU rules aimed at restricting advanced and dual-use technology exports to Russia.
This case comes as several waves of EU sanctions have been implemented since 2023, including an 11th round in June. The sanctions are a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
