Second Measles Case Confirmed in Virginia This Year

A second case of measles has been confirmed in Virginia, according to health officials. The infected person is a teenager from the northwest region who recently traveled outside the US.

Health officials have identified specific locations and times when the teen could have exposed others, including the Charlottesville Albemarle Airport, Play it Again Sports store, Goodwill Store, UVA Health Primary Care Riverside clinic, and UVA Health University Medical Center Emergency Department.

This brings the total number of confirmed measles cases in the US to 1,046, with Texas reporting only 10 new cases this week. Other major outbreaks are ongoing in Ontario, Canada, Alberta, Canada, and Chihuahua, Mexico, with over 3,400 reported cases.
