Ford Recalls Over 1 Million Vehicles Due to Rearview Camera Issue

Ford Motor Company has issued a massive recall for over 1 million vehicles due to a freezing rearview camera issue that could lead to crashes. The recall affects multiple models, including the F-150, Edge, Transit, Bronco, and more.

A software error may cause the rearview camera image to delay, freeze, or not display when the vehicle is in reverse. This can reduce the driver’s view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

The recall number is 25V315000, and Ford will update vehicle software for free through dealers or an over-the-air update. The company will begin mailing letters to customers on June 16, with a second letter sent once the solution is available in the third quarter of 2025.

Affected models include:

* 2021-2024 F-150
* 2021-2023 Edge
* 2022-2025 Transit
* 2021-2024 Bronco
* 2023-2024 F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, and F-600
* 2021-2023 Lincoln Nautilus
* 2022-2024 Expedition
* 2023-2024 Escape
* 2021-2023 Mach-E
* 2024 Mustang
* 2024 Ranger
* 2022-2024 Navigator
* 2023-2024 Corsair

Drivers can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and mention recall number 25S49, or reach out to the NHTSA hotline at 888-327-4236 or www.nhtsa.gov.

Ford was not aware of any injuries related to the recall, but one allegation of a minor crash resulting in property damage has been reported. The company’s automotive safety office reviewed 37 vehicle owner questionnaires and found that drivers experienced issues with frozen rearview camera images while reversing.
