The Last of Us Season 2 Finale Includes Disturbing Cut Scene from Game

The Last of Us season 2 finale has sparked controversy with its inclusion of a disturbing scene cut from the original game. Showrunner Neill Druckmann confirmed that this scene, where Ellie is captured by the Seraphites, was intentionally left out due to time constraints.

In the scene, Ellie is taken to an island where the Seraphites reside and are known for their xenophobic tendencies. Despite her attempts to explain she’s not with the WLF, a group of children tells her to be killed anyway. Luckily, she escapes.

Druckmann emphasized that this scene serves multiple purposes, highlighting the dangers of xenophobia and Ellie’s obsessive pursuit of Abby. The universe “tells” Ellie to stop by showing how far she’s come, but she continues on, heading towards a possible aquarium as seen in the game.

The Last of Us season 2 is now streaming on HBO Max in the US and Sky and NOW in the UK.
