Google has introduced two new tools aimed at empowering consumers to create high-quality videos using its AI technology. Veo 3, the company’s newest video generation model, can produce 8-second clips with synchronized sound effects and audio dialog, a first for the company’s AI tools. This model generates videos in 720p resolution, using either text descriptions called “prompts” or still image inputs.
Veo 3 is considered one of the most capable consumer video generators available today, bringing video synthesis close to authentic content. To further enhance its capabilities, Google has also launched Flow, an online AI filmmaking tool that combines Veo 3 with its Imagen 4 image generator and Gemini language model.
Flow allows creators to describe scenes in natural language and manage characters, locations, and visual styles within a web interface. Both Veo 3 and Flow are now available to US subscribers of Google AI Ultra, a $250-per-month plan that includes 12,500 credits.
Veo 3 generates videos for 150 credits per generation, allowing users to produce up to 83 videos before running out of credits. Extra credits can be purchased in blocks of $25, $50, or $200, with prices ranging from $1.50 per video generation.
To evaluate Veo’s capabilities, the company conducted tests using various prompts and found that it is capable of producing high-quality, coherent videos that match user descriptions.
